Mark
Howard Chichester is the Executive Director
of the Aspen Institute's Socrates Society,
a forum for emerging leaders to explore pressing leadership
challenges of our times. Mark previously worked for
the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Special Programs
Corporation where he served as the Director of the Division
of Policy Studies, overseeing the Institute for International
Public Policy and two research centers. Earlier in his
career, Mark held a Shapiro Fellowship in the Republic
of Korea.
He served on the Director General's Policy
Coordination Staff at the Department of State and, prior
to that, worked for General Instrument Corporation.
Mark is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations
and has served on the US Army Chief of Staff's Eisenhower
National Security Series Working Group. He serves on
the boards of the Forum on Education Abroad and the
Woodridge Youth Organization. Mark holds degrees in
business and law from The George Washington University
and attended Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC.
The mission of the Aspen Institute is to "foster
enlightened leadership and open-minded dialogue."
The Institute's seminars, policy programs, conferences
and leadership development initiatives "offer a
chance for restorative reflection on the meaning of
the good life, leadership, and sound public policy based
on nonpartisan principles and timeless ideas."
