Jeremiah Collins

Jeremiah Collins joined Bredhoff & Kaiser, P.L.L.C. in 1976 and is a member of the firm. His practice spans a wide range of areas.

Collins has litigated cases in federal and state courts across the country, on subjects including constitutional law, education law, employment discrimination, RICO, OSHA agency fees, political activities, and employee benefits. Jeremiah has particularly extensive experience in appellate litigation, having argued cases in twelve of the federal Courts of Appeals, and in a number of state appellate courts. He has argued four cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Collins has served as chief negotiator for unions in both the public and private sectors and has represented unions in numerous interest arbitration proceedings and significant grievance arbitration cases. He serves as Counsel to the United States Foreign Service Grievance Board, the agency within the State Department that decides grievance cases brought by Foreign Service officers. 

Collins also has written and spoken at conferences on issues of legal ethics, and his practice includes advising attorneys with respect to ethical matters. He speaks frequently at attorney conferences on issues of education law and other topics as well, and has served as a contributor or editor on to three treatises published by the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law: Occupational Safety and Health Law, Employment Discrimination Law, and Union Law and Regulation.

Collins received his BA magna cum laude from St. John’s College in 1971, and his JD from Stanford Law School in 1976, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and assisted Professor William G. Gould (later Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board) with litigation and publications.
