As part of a unit on culture and ethnocentrism, students in Mr. Eldridge’s sociology course will visit local ethnic restaurants, using food as a foundation for broader discussions of culture. Students will work with local chefs to prepare traditional meals of Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, China, El Salvador, Greece, and India and discuss the traditions and values of these countries. Students will create documentaries about their experiences and present them to other social studies classes in the school.
