Mrs. McCurdy and Mrs. Clarke will introduce “System 44,” an innovative web-based reading improvement program. This foundational program will provide targeted instruction to high school students who struggle with deficits in phonics and are caught in a cycle of academic failure. Students will learn “word-attack” strategies which help them to decode, pronounce, and understand unfamiliar words to increase their vocabulary and fluency. The teachers will use differentiated instructional software activities, model and independent reading activities, and both large and small group instruction as needed.
