To improve reading and writing workshops at East Hampton Middle School, Mrs. Tietjen will participate in an internship at Nancie Atwell’s Center for Teaching and Learning. Throughout the course of the internship, Mrs. Tietjen will learn to structure a workshop-based curriculum, conduct effective individual conferences with students, and collect and analyze meaningful data on student progress. Upon returning to school, Mrs. Tietjen will introduce professional development trainings and collaborate with colleagues to implement reading and writing workshop strategies.
