Through the implementation of technologically enhanced workstations, first grade students will use instructional materials to explore and expand their literacy by engaging in standards-based activities that develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. The grantees will transform the first grade classroom into a literature-rich environment consisting of multiple workstations where students will participate in developmentally appropriate self-directed learning activities.
