Through “Algae to Biodiesel,” biology students at North Central High School will have the opportunity to apply biological concepts learned in research settings. Students will design an optimal protocol for remediating pollution from wastewater using algae. Vernier probes will be used to compare the growth of algae in urban and agricultural water as well as to monitor the removal of pollutants. Students will ultimately convert algal biomass to biodiesel.
