Grant Gigstad

Through “Transforming Social Studies Classrooms,” Mr. Gigstad and colleagues will attempt to radically alter student learning through strategic changes in the instructional practices of social studies educators. Teachers will be challenged and guided to alter their focus from declarative knowledge and memorization to skills-based learning. Course study groups will align curriculum, incorporate Common Core Literacy Standards, embed 21st Century Skills, create common assessments, and determine best instructional practices that maximize student learning.
