Mr. George and Ms. Slingerland will mine the rich cultural and sociological influences prevalent in their ethnically diverse school community to develop a “Global Lab” study of race, class, and colonialism in Latin America.  This six-week unit will provide rich and engaging ways (including art, music, and recorded verbal histories) for students to study Latin American colonial power relationships and their possible legacies.  The overarching goal for the lab is to create a match between Renaissance’s heavily Hispanic student population and the Latin American experience throughout history.
