About this Grantee
Mrs. Huset and Mrs. Kuschke will implement an action research project in which students will learn to “read pictures,” discuss authors’ purposes, and analyze the word choices used in texts. Painting techniques will also be taught, as students will create their own art to use as a springboard for authentic writing. Students will also be encouraged to craft unique stories about themselves. Ultimately, Mrs. Huset and her colleagues will gauge the relationship between the use of pictures/visual art and improved reading/writing.
