About this Grantee

Through the project PALS, Dr. McAdams and colleagues will expand on research about the use of live dogs in elementary reading programs.  Recent results indicate that with the PALS programs, literacy scores increased up to thirty five percent compared to children who participated in reading activities without dogs.  The team will determine how valid this program is when used in a rural, low socioeconomic community, and study the efficacy of canine presence as a significant variable in reading skills.
