This project will support educators in the Nancy Fetzer writing framework to teach writing to struggling learners, especially English Learners (ELs). Using this framework, students will use sentence frames as a scaffold, graphic organizers, and other strategies to support using the correct structure and flow of the English language. In addition, learners will work towards writing in the language they already know. This project will conclude with the publishing of a book of student writing, which has proven to be a highly motivating activity for students eager to do their best for the broader audience their writing will reach. Student progress with the framework will be monitored and educators will continue to use the training they receive around this model in the years to come.
