The goal of this project is to build a cohort of leaders to serve as mentors for new hires in six middle schools. The leaders will gain knowledge in the GROWTH coaching cycle, diversity, equity, and cultural competence (DECC), and be a part of a collaborative critical friends support group. As the educators build their skills, their teacher efficacy will improve. This professional learning will take place in person, virtually, and via discussion software. New hires and mentors will have a monthly opportunity for learning and connection. New teachers will be mentored in the following areas: the climate and culture of the school district, the field of education, the union and its role in the teaching profession, district technology, human resource protocols, being a reflective practitioner, and collaboration.
