During Teacher Appreciation Week and Beyond, Let’s Go the Extra Mile for Educators

It’s National Teacher Appreciation Week, a time when the country celebrates teachers in a special way, and I hope you will join in the celebration!

During these unusual times, we have witnessed incredible public-school educators’ perseverance, dedication, and innovation, to stay connected to their students and to encourage and sustain student learning. Yet, going the extra mile for students is not a new phenomenon; it is what great educators do year in and year out.

Now, it is time for all of us to go the extra mile for them.

The NEA Foundation is committed to giving our all to the educators who have given so much to our children and this nation over this past year, as always. Supporting educators and excellent teaching and advancing the absolute best in public education is what The NEA Foundation is all about.

As one example, Brittany Schwab and Jackie Longan are Pennsylvania elementary school teachers who used an NEA Foundation grant to transform a handicap-accessible bus into a mobile STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) classroom. They then took the lab to each elementary school in their district, enabling students to use computers, robotics kits, and more in this unique space, making real-world connections to the skills they were learning.

Take a look at this wonderful project that these educators brought to life with an NEA Foundation grant!

Through the Foundation, you too can help educators across this country gain access to critical professional development opportunities. You can help provide grants to those desiring to bring creativity and exciting innovations in teaching and learning to real classrooms in real-time. You can help promote educational equity and lift up the teaching profession as an exciting, noble, and fulfilling choice.

You can help create a better tomorrow for the nation’s teachers and students.

Please stand with great educators and The NEA Foundation on Teacher Appreciation Week, and let’s celebrate teachers this year as never before!
