The NEA Foundation Honors Black Teacher Project with 2025 Equity Partner Award

Washington, D.C. (November 26, 2024)The NEA Foundation is proud to announce that the Black Teacher Project has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 NEA Foundation Equity Partner Award. This prestigious honor recognizes organizations that have made significant contributions to advancing equity and excellence in public education.

The Black Teacher Project (BTP) is dedicated to sustaining and developing Black teachers to lead and reimagine schools as communities of liberated learning. As a program of the National Equity Project, BTP addresses the unique challenges Black educators face, including racialized role expectations, lack of leadership opportunities, and navigating inequitable systems. Through culturally relevant professional development and support, BTP empowers Black teachers to transform educational environments and promote equity for all students.

The award will be presented at The NEA Foundation’s annual Salute to Excellence in Education Gala on February 14, 2025, in Washington, D.C. This event celebrates outstanding contributions to public education and brings together educators, advocates, and leaders dedicated to advancing the best in public education.
