The NEA Foundation Honors Longview Foundation for Legacy of Growing Young People’s Global Competency

Washington, D.C. (March 18, 2024) – The NEA Foundation announced today that it will recognize Longview Foundation with its 2024 Award for Outstanding Service to Public Education. Longview Foundation is a grantmaking organization committed to building a more peaceful, just, and equitable world by integrating global competence into teacher and student experiences.

Longview Foundation has a long history of supporting education projects across the country, all toward the goal of equipping youth with global perspectives and an understanding of political, social, and environmental issues worldwide. In addition to its grant-making work, the organization provides an extensive database of resources that supports international education and global competency efforts both in and out of the classroom.

“Our world is increasingly interconnected, and global competency is an essential component of all students receiving a high-quality education,” said Sara A. Sneed, president and CEO of The NEA Foundation. “The NEA Foundation is proud to honor Longview Foundation for its commitment to global understanding, and we celebrate the positive impact that the organization has had on countless students and educators throughout the country.”

The Award for Outstanding Service to Public Education is one of several awards that will be celebrated at the 2024 Salute to Excellence in Education gala, which takes place on May 3 in Washington, D.C. In addition to recognizing organizations advancing the best in public education, the Foundation will honor 44 educators from across the country who have received the 2024 Awards for Teaching Excellence. The annual Salute to Excellence in Education is often referred to as “the Academy Awards of public education,” and attracts hundreds of the nation’s leaders and supporters of public education.

The Salute to Excellence in Education will occur at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. on May 3. Join us in person or on the livestream!
