Laurie Gibson-Parker is a seasoned leader in education, union advocate, and champion for equity in public education, with more than two decades of experience serving students, educators, and communities across New Jersey. Laurie currently serves as a middle school educator in Cherry Hill, where her leadership in fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments supports student achievement and lifelong success.
Laurie’s leadership spans local, county, state, and national levels. At the local level, Laurie serves as an Association Representative with the Cherry Hill Education Association, holding key roles including Chair of Constitution & Bylaws and Chair of Policy & Procedure, and contributing to the district’s labor-management collaborative team. At the county level, Laurie serves as Vice President of the Camden County Council of Education Associations, having previously served as Treasurer, while leading efforts in governance, member advocacy, and professional development.
Laurie’s commitment to educational leadership is further demonstrated through previous service as an elected member of the Willingboro Township Board of Education, where Laurie focused on strengthening district policy and advancing strategic school improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes for students and the broader community.
At the state level, Laurie is a member of the New Jersey Education Association Executive Committee, providing governance and strategic leadership for one of the largest state affiliates. Laurie also serves on the Personnel & Property Committee, Congressional Contact Committee, and the Leadership Bargaining Team, while mentoring and developing future leaders and advancing member recruitment and retention initiatives.
Nationally, Laurie serves on the National Education Association Board of Directors, helping guide national policy and organizational direction. While participating in several caucuses and national committees including service on the Artificial Intelligence Committee, Annual Meeting Review Committee, and Executive Compensation Committee, along with ongoing contributions as a delegate and engagement with the NEA Representative Assembly.
Beyond professional leadership, Laurie is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., actively serving communities throughout Burlington and Camden counties through programs and initiatives that promote service, scholarship, and community uplift.
Laurie’s leadership is grounded in a steadfast belief that all students can learn and deserve equitable access to high-quality, inclusive education. A passionate advocate for racial and social justice, Laurie uses a collaborative and policy-driven approach to advance meaningful change for students, educators, and communities. Laurie holds a Master of Education in Diverse Classroom from Gratz College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Rider University.
