NEA Foundation Announces Partnership with Travelers to Celebrate America’s Educators

Washington, D.C. (April 11, 2024) –The NEA Foundation announced today a new multi-year partnership with Travelers around the Foundation’s national Awards for Teaching Excellence program. Given annually by the Foundation since 2001, the Awards for Teaching Excellence recognize K-12 public school educators from around the country for excellence in the classroom, dedication to family and community engagement, commitment to equity and diversity, and advocacy for the teaching profession.

The awards are formally presented at the Salute to Excellence in Education, which takes place in the nation’s capital each year. As part of the new partnership, the awards will now be called the Travelers Insurance Awards for Teaching Excellence. The first class of Travelers Insurance Awards recipients will be honored on May 3, 2024, at the Salute to the Excellence in Washington, D.C.

“The NEA Foundation is grateful to Travelers for its generous investment in and commitment to education,” said Sara A. Sneed, president and CEO, of The NEA Foundation. “We are delighted to partner with Travelers to celebrate educators and lift up the transformative impact these dedicated professionals have on students, school communities, and the teaching profession.”

“We have a long history of supporting educational programs in our communities, and we’re pleased to further our relationship with The NEA Foundation through this initiative,” said Michael Klein, executive vice president and president of personal insurance at Travelers. “Teachers help to shape the leaders of tomorrow, and it’s an honor to be part of such an important recognition of their work.”
