Professional Development and Educational Grant Opportunities From The NEA Foundation

The applications for the NEA Foundation’s Global Learning Fellowship have closed, and we have been overwhelmed by the response! It blew us away that our first ever open application resulted in more than 450 applications! Many thanks to all who applied or shared the opportunity.

Even though our applications are closed, we know you’re always interested in ways to develop professionally and to fund your creative ideas. Today, we’re sharing a few more teacher professional development and grant opportunities with deadlines coming up in the next few months.

Library of Congress Summer Teaching Institutes
Deadline: March 13
The Library of Congress hosts week-long programs for educators to explore using primary sources in their instruction.

IREX Teachers for Global Classrooms Program
Deadline: March 20
IREX partners with the US Department of State to help teachers become global ambassadors. This program is a year-long professional development opportunity for teachers in US elementary, middle, and high schools.

Folger Shakespeare Library Teaching Shakespeare Institute
Deadline: March 20
The Teaching Shakespeare Institute’s summer academy takes a deep dive into Macbeth over a week of learning.

Smithsonian Summer Institutes: Teaching the Humanities Through Art
Deadline: April 2
The Smithsonian American Art Museum hosts two week-long workshops in July in Washington, DC geared toward history, social studies, and English/language arts 6-12th grade teachers.

ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grant
Deadline: April 14
This grant for high school chemistry teachers in the US or US territories funds lab equipment, instructional materials, professional development, and more.

McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation Teacher Development and Academic Enrichment Grants
Deadline: April 15 (or until 350 applications received)
The McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation offers grants of up to $10,000 per year for classroom projects and professional development.

Voya Unsung Heroes
Deadline: April 30
The Voya Unsung Heroes Awards Program provides 100 grants for innovative education programs and class projects each year.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grants
Deadline: May 18
The Youth Literacy Grants support schools, public libraries, and nonprofits in reaching students who read below their grade level or have difficulty reading.

NEA Foundation’s Grants to Educators
Deadline: June 1
Don’t forget that the NEA Foundation also offers  Student Achievement and Learning & Leadership $2,00 and $5,000 grants to educators three times a year – the next deadline is June.
